Rescuers locate fisherman missing on Galway Bay

A 43-year-old fisherman has been rescued after getting into difficulty during bad weather in Galway Bay yesterday.

The man, who is from Newquay in Co Clare, went fishing in the bay at around 4pm yesterday.

His wife raised the alarm when he failed to return home as planned and a rescue effort was mounted shortly after 11pm.

The fisherman was found around three hours later after apparently taking shelter on an island.
