Carroll to be reunited with family
Rory Carroll could be re-united with his family as early as today.
The 33-year-old Irish journalist is returning to Dublin following his kidnap ordeal in Baghdad earlier this week.
Carroll, from Blackrock, was on assignment in the Iraqi Capital when he was abducted by an armed gang.
Rory was taken captive after visiting a family in the Sadr district of Baghdad to gauge their views about the start of the Saddam trial.
After intense diplomatic negotiations The Guardian correspondent was released after 36 hours and is currently en route back to Dublin.
Speaking to the BBC last night, Rory said his captors put a gun put to his head as they bundled him into a car and that he was handcuffed and forced to strip.
