ISPCC seeks mandatory vetting of people working with children

The ISPCC has called on the Government to introduce legislation requiring the vetting of all people working with children.

The call follows reports that a man convicted of sexually assaulting a teenage girl is working as a school bus-driver for children with special needs.

The ISPCC said employers were currently entitled to contact Gardaí for vetting reports on prospective employees, but there was no obligation on them to do so.
