FG attacks Govt over waiting times for foreign adoptions

Fine Gael has criticised the Government over the waiting time for foreign adoptions.

The party said today that 350 cases were currently pending in the former Southern Health Board area alone.

It said just four social workers were assessing applications as part of a process that can take up to four years.

Party spokesman Jim O'Keeffe said: "Because there are insufficient social workers, people are just left hanging on and on and on in limbo."
