Two Galway bars facing prosecutions for over-charging

The Director of Consumer Affairs is to take prosecutions against two Galway hotels for overcharging customers in their licensed premises.

The Director of Consumer Affairs is to take prosecutions against two Galway hotels for overcharging customers in their licensed premises.

Carmel Foley said the two hotels had been found to be charging customers siginficantly than what was displayed on their price lists.

The overcharging was uncovered during inspections mounted in Galway this week to coincide with the city's annual horse racing festival.

Under the law, all publicans are required to display their prices and can be fined for charging more than advertised.
