Security has been stepped up at Shannon and Dublin airports, and the Army and Gardaí have been put on heightened alert in the wake of last week's London bomb attacks.

However, following this afternoon’s meeting of the task force on emergency planning, the Government said the threat of a terrorist attack here was still low.
