Woman hurt as bus crashes into shelter
A Dublin tour bus crashed into a bus stop in the capital today injuring one woman.
The woman narrowly escaped serious injury after she was hit by the falling bus shelter on Dublin’s Cathal Brugha Street.
A spokeswoman for the state-owned Dublin Bus said: “It looks like the driver of the bus misjudged as he was pulling in and hit the bus shelter.”
Dublin Bus confirmed the woman was injured after the bus hit the shelter and it toppled over.
“The woman was conscious after the incident, she was at the bus shelter standing when the bus hit the shelter,” the spokeswoman said.
The woman was brought to Dublin’s Mater Hospital for treatment for minor injuries and observation after the crash which happened at around 2.30pm. The bus driver was also treated for sock after the incident.
The bus was travelling on the route of the City Tour services which offers guides of the capital’s tourist spots.
Dublin Bus said there were no passengers on board the vehicle at the time.
A probe will be launched into the circumstances of the crash.
Last year, five people were kiled and 17 injured when an out-of-service Dublin bus mounted the kerb at Wellington Quay and collided with a group of people queuing for a bus to Lucan.
