Irish tsunami aid co-ordinator calls for new disaster plan
The man overseeing Ireland's aid spending in regions affected by the Asian tsunami has called for the establishment of an co-ordinated international system to deal with disaster situations.
Former Fianna Fáil TD Chris Flood said a system involving governments, NGOs and the United Nations was needed to ensure the response to future disasters is as effective as possible.
Mr Flood has spent much of the last six months in south Asia overseeing the spending of funds allocated by the Government following the December 26th tsunami.
