Two killed in NI traffic accidents

Two men died and one was seriously injured in overnight traffic accidents in Co Antrim and Down.

A man was the victim of what police believe was a hit-and-run incident in Ballymena. His body was discovered at 4am near a bar on the Crankhill dual carriageway.

Police today warned motorists that the road could be closed for the rest of today.

In a separate incident in Downpatrick, a man was killed when his car hit a wall on the Ballynoe Road around 1am. Police have appealed for information on both incidents.

Meanwhile a 30-year-old motorcyclist was taken to hospital suffering from a serious head injury after a road collision outside Lurgan.

It is believed the biker came off his red Honda and struck a traffic island on the Belfast road at 6.30am.

Police said he was travelling from Lurgan to Moira and have appealed for witnesses.
