Pair recovering after gun attack
Two youths are recovering in hospital after a shooting attack on Dublin’s northside today.
A 17-year-old teenager was shot in the torso by the occupants of a black BMW in Coolock at about 1am.
Another man sustained leg injuries after he was stuck by the car as it sped away from the scene at Priorswood Road.
A black BMW was later found by officers at a nearby industrial estate.
Gardaí said the incident began when the black BMW car approached the 17-year-old, who was on foot.
“A number of shots were fired at the man from the car and he fled on foot in the direction of a local public house,” a garda spokesman said.
“The car then drove after him and another 17-year-old youth, standing outside the pub, was struck by the car. “This car then drove at speed from the scene,” he added.
Both men were taken by ambulance to Beaumont hospital.
“One man was suffering from what appears to be a gunshot wound to the torso. He remains in hospital and his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
“The other received leg injuries in the incident,” the spokesman added.
A black BMW was later found at Baldoyle Industrial Estate.
Coolock gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
