Govt urged to help Aer Lingus CEO focus
The Government has been urged to stop its bickering and in-fighting over Aer Lingus and take time-out to allow its new CEO time to formulate plans to revive the national carrier.
Dermot Mannion - currently an executive at Emirates Airlines - takes up the CEO post in August.
Fine Gael Transport spokeswoman Olivia Mitchell, says only issues of real concern should be brought to the attention of Mr Mannion.
“I think what’s crucial now is that the Government gets behind him and he is not left swinging in the wind in a way that drove his predecessor to resign”, said Deputy Mitchell.
“Certainly, he has to be given some direction about the future funding and ownership of the airline,” she added. “That’s the absolutely critical thing.”
