David Trimble rules out sharing power with Sinn Féin

The Ulster Unionist leader, David Trimble, has said his party has no intention of once again sharing power with Sinn Féin after the May elections.

The Ulster Unionist leader, David Trimble, has said his party has no intention of once again sharing power with Sinn Féin after the May elections.

Speaking at his party's manifesto launch this afternoon, Mr Trimble also said he wanted the British government to abandon the system by which all parties get ministries dependent on their electoral mandate.

He said his party's view on Sinn Féin was crystal clear and that the Unionist electorate would not tolerate an executive that included Sinn Féin.
