Two held after Dublin guns and drugs find
Two men were being questioned today after detectives discovered a cache of weapons and drugs during a search of a house in north Dublin.
Gardaí from the North Central Drugs unit seized a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a sawn-off shotgun and a garda radio.
The two men, who were in their mid-30s, were arrested during the planned search of a house in Connaught Street in Phibsboro late last night.
Officers said the quantity of heroin and amount of cash found during the raid is not yet known. A garda spokesman said: “The search was part of ongoing observation by officers. There would not be too many garda radios found during searches.”
Officers said that semi-automatic weapons would be found occasionally during raids. Gardaí said the items were all removed for technical examination.
The two men are being held for questioning at Store Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act. The men can be held for up to seven days.
