Man in serious condition after stabbing
A man is in a serious condition in hospital tonight after being stabbed in Castlepark Estate in east Galway.
Gardaí said the man was rushed to hospital for treatment after the stabbing at around 8.30pm.
A garda spokeswoman said: “There was a row between two men and one received stab wounds to the chest.”
The man, who is believed to be in his 20s, is in the University College Hospital in Galway where his injuries have been described as serious.
Gardaí said that so far no one had been arrested over the incident, and that officers have sealed off the area for technical examination.
Meanwhile, a youth is being treated in hospital after he was injured in a shooting incident in Limerick.
The 19-year-old man was injured during a row with another teenager at around 5pm in St Mary’s Park Estate in Limerick city.
It is understood that an argument occurred between two teenagers. At least one gunshot was fired in the incident.
It is believed that the teenager was brought to Limerick Regional Hospital with an eye injury.
His condition is not believed to be serious.
Gardaí are investigating the incident, and the scene has been sealed off for technical examination.
