Irish novels fail to make literary award shortlist
The three Irish novelists nominated for the 2005 International IMPAC Dublin literary award have failed to make the shortlist for the prestigious prize.
Martin Malone's The Broken Cedar, Colum McCann's The Dancer and Schopenhauer's Telescope by Gerard Donovan had all been included on the long-list, but failed to make the shortlist announced today.
Two novelists from South Africa, Canada, and the US, and one each from Australia, the Netherlands, Germany and Norway are in with a chance of securing the €100,000 prize.
The winner will be announced on June 15.
