UCD in debt for first time

The country's largest university, UCD, has gone into the red for the first time in its history.

The deficit is reported to be €3.5m, but is expected to rise further before the end of the year.

One apparent cost-saving initiative has been the removal of 'hot' food services to the science canteen.
