State to compensate 91 workers in conditions row

The State is set to pay €217,000 to 91 temporary workers in the civil service for breaching an EU directive relating to their pay and conditions.

Reports this morning said a rights commissioner had ordered the compensation last week after hearing the workers had been denied a range of benefits enjoyed by full-time civil servants.
