Academic condemned over comments on lone-parent families

The One Family support group for single parents has condemned a leading Irish academic for claiming one-parent families are bad for children.

Reports this morning said Dr Edward Walsh, the president emeritus of the University of Limerick, was due to give a lecture in UCC next week in which he would state that the children of single parents were more likely to be involved in delinquency and crime.
