The body that runs rape crisis centres throughout Ireland has claimed services for victims of sexual and domestic violence are being crippled because of a lack of Government support.

The Rape Crisis Network said services were at breaking point because of a shortage of funding and said thousands of calls to helplines could not be answered because of the lack of resources.
