A group of protestors will hand a petition over to the Minister for the Environment Dick Roche today calling for the re-routing of the proposed M3 motorway.

The submission has more than 10,000 signatures from historians and archaeologists all over the world, who believe the motorway needlessly passes through the historically and culturally-important Hill of Tara site.

Minister Roche is considering a request from the National Roads Authority and Meath County Council to begin excavation on the site.

However, Vincent Salafia from the Tara Skryne Valley Group has called on the minister to refuse the application, and instead find an alternative route.
