Gardaí in Co Kildare are investigating an overnight break-in at the offices of the Equestrian Federation of Ireland in the town of Kill.

The break-in was noticed this morning, but it is unclear if anything was stolen from the building.

The incident comes a day after the revelation that the 'B' sample from the horse ridden by Ireland's Olympic gold medallist, Cian O'Connor, had been stolen while en route from France to Britain for testing 11 days ago.

The 'A' sample from Waterford Crystal has already tested positive for a banned substance.

Irish MEP Avril Doyle, who is also president of the Equestrian Federation, said the overnight break-in was “sinister” in light of yesterday’s news about the stolen sample.
