Boy escapes attack on family home

A teenager had a lucky escape last night when his family was targeted in an attack on their home in the North.

The 13-year-old boy was in a front downstairs room of the house in Somerdale Park, off the Crumlin Road in north Belfast when a brick was thrown through a window.

A petrol bomb was also thrown, igniting in the front garden and causing scorch damage.

Two adults and four children were in the house at the time. No one was injured.

Police said they had yet to establish a motive for the attack.

They appealed for anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in Somerdale Park or the Crumlin Road between 10.30pm and 11pm to help their investigation.
