Chicken farmers protest low prices outside Nescastlewest factory

Chicken farmers are protesting outside Castlemahon Foods in Newcastlewest, Co Limerick.

The West Limerick Co-op Poultry Producers Society is in dispute with the company over uneconomic margins.

The protestors are looking for a 10% increase from the company, saying the 31 cent price paid per bird over the last two and a half years is among the lowest paid in the country.
