Crimestoppers to be relaunched today
Justice Minister Michael McDowell and Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy are due to officially relaunch the Crimestoppers phoneline later today.
The initiative was set up by the gardaí and Dublin Chamber of Commerce six years ago to help the public report crime in a confidential manner.
Speaking ahead of today's re-launch, Crimestoppers said the phoneline had already proved successful and had led to the seizure of €500,000 worth of counterfeit goods in Dundalk, Co Louth, last year.
