A new study has reportedly found that children from disadvantaged backgrounds are less likely to do well in education than children from better-off families, even if the poorer children have above-average IQs.

Reports this morning said the study, conducted by researchers at UCD and Trinity College, was based on a sample of children from west Dublin. The subjects were tracked between the ages of 11 and 21.
