Off-license chain refuses to stock new vodka ‘sachets’

The Carry-Out chain of off-licenses has announced its intention not to stock a controversial new vodka product sold in 30ml sachets.

The Carry-Out chain of off-licenses has announced its intention not to stock a controversial new vodka product sold in 30ml sachets.

Yesterday, the Vintners Federation of Ireland urged its members not to stock the product, claiming it was designed to encourage underage drinking.

Justice Minister Michael McDowell and Health Minister Micheál Martin have also expressed concern about the drink.

Carry-Out, which has 21 outlets in Ireland, said it had decided to boycott the product for ethical reasons.
