Eight FSAI enforcement orders last month
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) today announced that eight Enforcement Orders were served by Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) during the month of July.
Five Closure Orders, one Prohibition Order and two Improvement Orders were served during the month for breaches of food safety legislation.
Commenting on the latest figures, Peter Whelan of the FSAI stated that to date this year, 41 Enforcement Orders have been served on Irish food businesses.
While the total number of Enforcement Orders is down so far in 2004, there has been a sharp rise in the number of Closure Orders issued.
"There has been a total of 29 food business closed so far this year due to serious breaches of food safety legislation."
