Murder hunt as man found in pool of blood

A murder hunt was under way today after a man was found dead in Sligo town centre.

Paul Waters was found lying in a pool of blood and broken glass in a lane way early yesterday.

Mr Waters, believed to be in his 40s and from the Avondale area, was discovered by a passer-by at around 8.30am.

The Garda Technical Bureau and State Pathologist Marie Cassidy were called to the scene and carried out an examination.

Gardaí said they would be looking at CCTV footage from the town centre and appealed for witnesses.
