IMC to release latest report

The Irish and British governments have received copies of the latest report from the body set up to monitor paramilitary ceasefires in the North.

The report from the Independent Monitoring Commission (IMC) is due to be made public tomorrow.

The IMC’s first report earlier this year sparked a major political row when it accused the Provisional IRA of involvement in the attempted abduction of a dissident republican in Belfast city centre in February.

It also accused the Provisionals of ongoing involvement in smuggling and other organised criminal activities and condemned ceasefire breaches by loyalist paramilitary groups.
