A prominent businessman has told the Saville Inquiry that he told the RUC the IRA would not be active in Derry on Bloody Sunday more than 32 years ago.

Brendan Duddy said he told the local police commander Chief Superintendent Frank Lagan that he had been assured the IRA would not take on British soldiers during the civil rights march in Derry's Bogside on January 30, 1972.
