Referendum: Almost eight in 10 vote 'yes' so far
After the counting of just over 4% of votes cast in the Citizenship Referendum, almost eight in 10 (78.19%) have voted for the change to the Constitution, accordingt o the latest information from the National Count Centre.
Some 21.8% of those whose votes have been counted voted against the Referendum.
Some 130,150 have been counted. Of those, 101,769 were in favour and 28,381 against. There were 1,391 spoiled votes.
In Cork City, turnout was at 56%, with almost 79% (38,931) voting for the Referendum and 21.29% (10,531) against.
The difference in the votes was even more in Waterford City. Almost 81% (14,113) were for the change to the Constitution, while 19.05% (3,321) were against.
