The incidence of Irish athletes taking banned substances is on the decrease, according to the latest annual report from the Irish Sports Council’s anti-doping unit.

The report showed that 950 drug tests were carried out on Irish athletes last year, six of which produced positive results. This represents a significant decrease on the figures for four years ago, when 12 positive results were produced from 400 tests.
