Four men in their 20s and a 31-year-old woman were arrested at their homes in the Tallaght area early this morning.

The suspects are being questioned in connection with the shooting of Mrs Casey at her home in Avonbeg Park, Tallaght two weeks ago.

A team of around 40 detectives has been investigating the murder of the devout Catholic grandmother, which shocked the country.

Officers do not believe she was the intended victim.

Mrs Casey, 64, was in bed when two armed and masked men broke into her house and opened fire in the early hours of Saturday, April 3.

Her husband and brother, who are also believed not to be the attended victims, were also in the house at the time.

The mother of five was a daily Mass-goer and a minister of the eucharistic in the local St Dominic’s Church who had lived with her husband, Dominic, and children in Avonbeg Park, Tallaght, for about 30 years.
