SIPTU stays silent on Ryanair legal threat

SIPTU have refused to comment on Ryanair's vow to proceed with legal action against the threatened strikes at the country's three main airports.

The low fare airline has said it will pursue litigation in the High Court preventing the union from holding the aviation industry to ransom every time workers stage a stoppage.

Aer Rianta has been forced to close Dublin airport during recent stoppages over lack of fire cover, grounding flights.

Ryanair spokesman Eddie Wilson has said, “what we want to do as a customer of this airport is insure that it is open and if there is industrial action we must keep the runway and the airport open and we must have the fire cover there.”
