The AMICUS trade union has accused the Government of failing to honour its promise that the civil service decentralisation plan would only be implemented on a voluntary basis.

The union said yesterday that its members in Enterprise Ireland and the National Standards Authority were being forced to move to Shannon and Arklow respectively.

It said these workers were facing relocation or resignation and had no other choice in the matter.

AMICUS is due to discuss the decentralisation plan at a conference in Dublin today.
