Kenny: Govt treated Omagh victims 'disgracefuly'
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said today the relatives of the Omagh victims had been treated disgracefully by the Government.
Deputy Kenny was speaking after he met with the relatives. The group representing the majority of the families of the 29 people killed in the IRA bomb attack in August 1998 were invited to a private meeting with Mr Ahern but on being told he would spend only five to 10 minutes with them they stayed away.
"It is a disgrace that five and a half years after the single worst atrocity in Northern Ireland the Taoiseach has failed to have a proper meeting with the families of the 31 people killed and the many others badly injured.
"Despite repeated promises made in the Dáil, the Government has reneged on its commitment to publish the findings of the Nally Report.
"I am appalled that the Taoiseach will not be present in the Dáil for the debate on this report tomorrow.
"I am determined to continue to work closely with the victims and their families in their quest for the truth and I will be telling the Dáil why I do not accept the Nally Report when I speak on this debate tomorrow morning."
