Gardaí have named the three victims of this morning’s two-car collision on the N2 outside Tullyvaragh, Co Monaghan.

36-year-old Michael McGeough and 42-year-old Angela Woods, both from Carrickmacross, were travelling together in one car.

The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was 21-year-old Kris Comiskey from Cullenboy, Silverbridge in Co Armagh.

The two cars collided head-on at a straight stretch of the main Dublin-to-Derry road between Carrickmacross and Castleblaney at about 3.30 am.

All three were pronounced dead at the scene. Their bodies were taken to Cavan General Hospital where post mortem examinations will be carried out later today.

Gardaí are carrying out a technical examination of the scene and are also appealing for anyone who might have been in the area and who may have information to come forward.
