Waterford Hospital to offer circumcision procedure
Waterford Regional Hospital has announced plans to offer circumcisions to babies of Muslim and Jewish parents.
The decision comes in the aftermath of a case of a 29-day old baby, born to Nigerian parents in the region, who bled to death last year when a razor blade was used to circumcise him in his family home.
The procedure will be offered at a monthly clinic to parents who wish to have their children circumcised for cultural or health reasons.
Our Lady's Hospital and Temple Street Children's hospital in Dublin are the only other hospitals currently offering the procedure.
