Martin urged to publish results of smoking ban study

The Irish Cigarette Machine Operators Association has called on the Government to immediately publish the results of a study into the possible economic effects of the proposed ban on smoking in the workplace.

The Irish Cigarette Machine Operators Association has called on the Government to immediately publish the results of a study into the possible economic effects of the proposed ban on smoking in the workplace.

The study was commissioned by the Office of Tobacco Control and carried out in October by UCD economists Moore McDowell and Joe Durkan.

The ICMOA said it suspected that Health Minister Micheál Martin was deliberately withholding the results of the study because they did not tally with his claim that the proposed smoking ban would not harm the hospitality sector.
