Police injured in Belfast clash
Eight police officers were injured after trouble flared in north Belfast overnight.
One of those wounded was treated in hospital for a broken finger and the others suffered cuts and bruises.
A 20-strong group clashed with the police units on the Cavehill Road.
The officers were investigating reports that houses were being attacked and property damaged, a police spokeswoman said.
She added: “When police tried to speak to the crowd they were attacked, resulting in eight officers being injured.”
Windows on two houses in the area were broken and a car was damaged, police said.
Bins were also overturned and rubbish strewn across the road. One was set alight.
Three people were later arrested for public order offences.
