Government 'must help developing countries' during presidency
With the Irish Presidency of the EU now just weeks away, a number of development agencies are calling on the Government to use the presidency to help developing countries.
They are highlighting the need for 'human security' to be introduced onto the Government's agenda for the Presidency.
Director of Dochas, a group which represents 33 non-governmental organisations, Hans Zomer said the fight against poverty has been overshadowed, and even hampered, by the clampdown in security against terrorism worldwide.
