Human Rights chief rejects resignation demands
The chairman of the North’s Human Rights Commission has rejected demands for his resignation.
Brice Dickson has been under pressure to step down since three other commission members resigned earlier this year and two more said they had lost all confidence in him.
A British parliamentary report has also criticised Professor Dickson, who has admitted making blunders, but has insisted they will not be repeated.
Both the SDLP and Sinn Féin have repeatedly called for Professor Dickson’s resignation, saying the Human Rights Commission would be ineffective and would lack community confidence if he remained in charge.
