IBHA: New development levies require regulator

The Irish Home Builders Association (IBHA) is calling on the Government to appoint a regulator to monitor the introduction of all development levies proposed by local authorities.

They are proposing increases of up to 300%.

If agreed, these levies will add between €12,000 and €28,000 to the price of new houses nationwide.

The chairman of IHBA, Matt Gallagher, says this will add to the huge burden on first time buyers in particular.
