Man arrested after robbery at pensioner's home

Gardaí in Co Galway have arrested a 30-year-old man in connection with an aggravated burglary near Barna over the weekend.

A 76-year-old woman was treated for shock after she was tied to a chair during the robbery at her home in Freeport yesterday afternoon.

The burglar stole cash and credit cards from the house and threatened two of the woman’s relatives when they confronted him as he was leaving the scene.

A man arrested today in connection with the incident was detained at around 9am in Salthill.
