The Garda Representative Association has called for legislation to allow gangland criminals to be prosecuted like subversives in the Special Criminal Court.

The group, which represents rank and file members of the force, is proposing special non-jury courts which would examine evidence brought by Chief Superintendents, based on criminal intelligence information.
