Eames to chair commission on gay bishop

Church of Ireland Archbishop Robin Eames has been appointed to chair a commission established to discuss the crisis sparked by the election of an openly gay bishop to the US Episcopal Church earlier this year.

The body will also examine the authorisation of same-sex blessings by the Anglican Church in the Canadian diocese of New Westminster.

Dr Eames is the Archbishop of Armagh and Church of Ireland Primate of All Ireland.
