Taoiseach insists smoking ban will be implemented

The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has insisted that the Government’s proposed all-out ban on smoking in Irish workplaces will be implemented as planned this January.

Mr Ahern was responding to reports that two junior ministers have joined the growing opposition to the ban within Fianna Fáil.
