The Irish Farmers Association says any major cuts in import tariffs at next month's WTO negotiations could have serious implications for Irish farming.

The next round of the World Trade Organisation talks take place in Cancun Mexico to determine new trading rules for import and exporting.

The EU is planning to reduce import tariffs by 36%.

Con Lucey of the IFA said this afternoon that a reduction of tariffs of anything more than 36% could damage Irish farming.
