Ahern to meet Clinton in government buildings
The Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, is due to meet former US President Bill Clinton at government buildings today to sign a joint agreement on fighting HIV and AIDS in developing countries.
Under the deal, Development Co-operation Ireland and the Clinton Foundation will join forces to formulate strategy in relation to the difficult issue of access to treatment for HIV and AIDS sufferers in poorer countries.
The scheme, which aims to reduce poverty and disadvantage in developing countries, has a budget of €372m in the current year.
