Schoolchildren were asked to cover up their Adidas, Reebok and Nike logos today to highlight concern about globalisation.

No Logo stickers were being distributed across Ireland for students to cover up their brand names for the day.

The campaign – organised by the Republic’s Green Party – also invited pupils to join in a fashion challenge to dress a model for less than €25.

“We want to show that it is possible to look cool without being a slave to the dreaded logo,” a spokesperson said.

“Hopefully, this will make children think more carefully about why they choose clothes with logos in the future.”

Students were being encouraged to think about where their clothes came from, what conditions are like for those who make them and where the money paid for them goes.
